In August 2015, Dr Lisa Gonzales was one of 18 California public school Superintendents to attend a California CUE/Discovery Education Superintendent Symposium at Hearst Castle. The outcome was international sharing about best practices in innovative teaching, learning, communication, and leadership.

Each Superintendent was selected based on creative innovative practices surrounding the #FutureReady Initiative and the seven gears that were identified by the US Department of Education as futuristic, progressive and student-centered practices, including:

• Curriculum, Instruction, and Assessment

• Professional Learning

• Technology, Networks, and Hardware

• Data and Privacy

• Community Partnerships

• Budget and Resources

• Use of Time
