Growing up, I often heard from friends, especially the boys, that I didn't throw like a girl. I didn't kick like a girl. I didn't run like a girl.

At the time, I was flattered they were comparing my skills to boys, but I had no idea that the comments could be considered put-downs until I started viewing the world from a different perspective. A parent perspective.

And then I viewed this video and it completely shattered me, as I realized I used similar phrases, not realizing their impact. The messages.

As a parent of twin daughters, this video is a must see. As an educator, it is even more important. We need to be reflective of our words and their unintended consequences.
